How it all began

The journey began in 1994 when our founder Dr. Armin Herker "discovered" cherry stone pillows as a popular product among midwives and nursing staff as part of a market research study for his then employer. In a small group, the idea of ​​producing such cherry stone pillows arose and the "Kirschkern Naturprodukte GbR" was founded in Heidenheim.

Today, 30 years later, heat pads with natural fillings are still an important part of our range. But we have developed further. We now produce over 135 different products for babies, children and adults. We remain true to our vision and the idea that “every product must have a purpose” and always keep our values ​​in mind.

Our Story

Soon after the company was founded, it became clear that we wanted to expand our product range in a meaningful way in order to support families with more well-thought-out, safe and natural products. In addition to cherry stone pillows, nursing and positioning pillows, scented pillows and washable nursing pads were added to the range in 1998. When the Herker family moved to Ingolstadt in 1998, the company headquarters were also moved there and because the range was expanded to include other product areas, the company name was changed from “Kirschkern Naturprodukte GbR” to “GRÜNSPECHT Naturprodukte eK”.

By the way, our GRÜSPECHT logo was designed by the eldest son of the family, who has now also taken on responsibility in the company.

The ELANEE brand was launched in 2004 to create a separate product range for pregnant women and nursing mothers. ELANEE now offers a wide range of women's health products.

With the growing number of high-quality and sustainable products and the success with major customers and drugstores, GRÜNSPECHT has established itself as a brand and has grown step by step. A move to a new office building, the renaming to "GRÜNSPECHT Naturprodukte GmbH", the certification as a medical device manufacturer and the construction of a new warehouse were important milestones in recent years. Last but not least, this also includes our own online shop, which we will launch in October 2024. During this time, our team has grown from a sole proprietor to over 30 employees.

What happens next?

Our product management is constantly working to expand our product range and optimize existing products. We want to be part of everyday life right from the start and support young and old with a wide selection of products.

Our goal is to give everyone easy and quick access to GRÜNSPECHT products. Our sales team is working on making as many of our products as possible available in brick-and-mortar stores, for example in drugstores. But opening up new markets abroad is also an important part of our work.
