How it all began
The journey began in 1994 when our founder, Dr. Armin Herker, "discovered" cherry stone pillows as a popular product among midwives/nurses during a market research study for his then-employer. The idea of manufacturing such cherry stone pillows himself was born in a small group, and "Kirschkern Naturprodukte GbR" was founded in Heidenheim.
Today, 30 years later, heat pillows with fillings like cherry stones, grape seeds, and much more are still an important part of our product range. But we have evolved. We now produce over 135 different products for babies, children, and adults. In doing so, we remain true to our vision and the idea that "every product must serve a purpose," and we always keep our values in mind.
Our story
Soon after its founding, it became clear that we wanted to sensibly expand our product range to support families with further well-thought-out, safe, and as natural as possible products. In addition to cherry pit pillows, breastfeeding and positioning pillows, scented pillows, and washable nursing pads were added to the range from 1998 onwards. Due to the Herker family's move to Ingolstadt in 1998, the company's headquarters were also relocated there, and due to the expansion of the product range to other product areas, the company name was changed from "Kirschkern Naturprodukte GbR" to "GRÜNSPECHT Naturprodukte e.K.".
Our GRÜSPECHT logo, incidentally, was designed by the family's eldest son, who has since also taken on responsibility within the company.
In 2004, the ELANEE brand was launched to create a separate product area for pregnant women and nursing mothers. ELANEE now offers a wide range of women's health products.
With the growing number of products and successes with major customers and drugstores, GRÜNSPECHT has established itself as a brand and has grown step by step. A move to a new office building, the reincorporation as "GRÜNSPECHT Naturprodukte GmbH", certification as a medical device manufacturer, and the construction of a new warehouse were important milestones in recent years. Last but not least, this also includes our own online shop, which we were able to launch in October 2024. During this time, our team has grown from a sole proprietorship to over 30 employees.
What happens next?
Our product management is constantly working to expand our product range and optimize existing products. We want to be part of everyday life right from the start and support young and old with a wide selection of products.
Our goal is to give everyone easy and quick access to GRÜNSPECHT products. Our sales team is working on making as many of our products as possible available in brick-and-mortar stores, for example in drugstores. But opening up new markets abroad is also an important part of our work.

Materials and Product Selection
When selecting our materials, we ensure that material, functionality, safety, and suitability for everyday use are well-matched. Depending on the product, we primarily use natural, renewable, or carefully selected materials.
